​My name is Kaylé Bowes, but I go by Kay for short. I have always been interested in biology and art, but I chose to pursue a career in art, more specifically jewellery design.

 

My jewellery making journey began in 2017 when I started my studies at DUT (Durban University of Technology). I am currently working on completing my Postgraduate Diploma, 2021.

 I incorporate my love for biology by drawing most of my inspiration for my jewellery from the natural/organic world. Using form, shape and colour from the plants I find in my garden and neighbourhood.

 

When I am not making jewellery I spend my time doing watercolour paintings, making paper, using Art Flow to draw digitally and collecting leaves to skeletonise.
